Caiaphas Ossuary
The Caiaphas ossuary was a decorated tomb inscribed with the words "Joseph, son of Caiaphas" and was found to contain the bones of a 60-year-old male. The size of the ossuary is 15 inches high by 30 inches long. It currently resides in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Historians believe that this is the ossuary of the Caiaphas who was appointed High Priest of Israel in AD 18 by the Roman prefect Valerius Gratus. In the New Testament, Caiaphas presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus.
